Improving Your Number Sense

Have you ever counted the number of tiles in the ceiling of your office to understand how big the space was? When counting those tiles did you count by 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, etc.? What about a huge clear container of animal crackers? Do you think that if you count by 10’s you could determine the number of crackers the container holds?

Number sense is a way of understanding numbers and how they work. Having number sense can give you perspective of a number by understanding its magnitude (size) and value (worth).
