About Dr. Shawntay Simpson

As an energetic, enthusiastic educator who thrives to make things happen, Dr. Simpson brings life to mathematics by making real-world connections through sharing of her personal experiences. In her educational journey, Dr. Simpson sought out the answer to how the content was relevant to her future and current success instead of the repetitive calculations she was receiving. With instructional leadership experiences, Dr. Simpson has a desire to share her expertise on teaching mathematics with other mathematics educators. Her classroom has always been open to her peers, parents, and other stakeholders. In her daily routine, Dr. Simpson models what she expects from her students; to be critical and crucial thinkers, open-minded, and persevere through problem solving.

Dr. Simpson empowers those she encounters by helping them to see and feel what is important in the mathematical learning process. She uses the continuous toggle between concept and practice to building an equitable classroom where students demonstrate understanding, gain confidence, and make a conscious effort. Dr. Simpson continues to use her leadership role to support her colleagues on how to best advocate for students and build relationships with parents and community members. She strongly believes that together everyone achieves more.
